The Total Number of People That Have Won Set For Life

How many people have actually won the Set For Life lottery?

If you’ve ever wondered whether it’s really possible to win £10,000 a month for 30 years, you’re not alone.

This blog explores how many people have taken home one of the Set For Life prizes since it launched, how the game works, and what happens if no one claims a win. We’ll also compare Set For Life to other National Lottery games, discuss if it’s possible to win more than once, and look at whether there have been any repeat winners.

If you're new to lottery games, don’t worry — this guide breaks it all down in simple terms.

How Many People Have Won Set For Life So Far?

Set For Life launched in the UK in March 2019. Since then, over 100 people have won either the top prize (£10,000 every month for 30 years) or the second-tier prize (£10,000 every month for 1 year).

Unlike traditional jackpots where the full prize is paid in one lump sum, Set For Life spreads its winnings out in monthly instalments. So far, winners have come from all over the UK, including Wales, Scotland and England, with varied backgrounds — from landscapers to carers and content creators.

Some of the publicly shared winners include:

  • James Evans, from Derbyshire, won the top prize in February 2025.

  • Sandra Hall, who won the full 30-year prize in June 2025.

  • Olivia Love, from Glasgow, who won the 1-year prize in May 2025.

The actual number of winners will continue to grow with each draw, which takes place every Monday and Thursday.

Is Set For Life Won Every Week?

Not necessarily. Set For Life is a game of chance, meaning no outcome can ever be predicted or guaranteed. Every draw is completely random.

Players select five main numbers from 1 to 47 and one Life Ball from 1 to 10. Matching all five numbers and the Life Ball is what’s needed to win the top prize.

There could be weeks when someone wins the main prize, but there could also be draws where no one wins the top tier. However, lower-tier prizes — like £5 for matching just two main numbers — tend to be awarded more regularly. These smaller wins help explain why people might win something more often, even if the top prize isn’t claimed as frequently.

What Happens To Unclaimed Set For Life Prizes?

According to UK National Lottery rules, winners have 180 days (around six months) to claim any potential prize. If a prize isn’t claimed within that time, the money doesn’t go back into the prize pool — it’s donated to National Lottery-funded projects across the UK, supporting local charities, community groups, and heritage organisations.

For online players, claiming any smaller prizes is usually automatic, up to £500 — these can be paid straight into your National Lottery account. For any potential wins over £50,000,  prizes must be claimed in person after calling the National Lottery to arrange a time.

Always check your results after each draw. You can find them on the official National Lottery website — just head to the "Set For Life Results" page and enter your numbers.

How Set For Life Compares To Other National Lottery Games

Set For Life differs from other UK lottery games in several key ways. Instead of a single lump sum, the main prizes are paid monthly. This can be helpful for budgeting, but it also means the prize is spread out over time.

Here’s how Set For Life compares to some of the other games:

  • Lotto: Offers large lump sum jackpots, starting from around £2 million. There are two draws a week (Wednesday and Saturday), and jackpots can roll over.

  • EuroMillions: Offers some of the biggest jackpots in the UK — sometimes over £100 million. Draws are on Tuesday and Friday.

  • Thunderball: Top prize is £500,000, and there are four draws each week.

Each game has its own odds and possible prize structure, so some players may prefer one format over another, depending on how they like to play.

Can Someone Win Set For Life More Than Once?

In theory, yes. Since Set For Life is a random draw-based game, there’s nothing to stop someone from possibly winning more than once — if they enter multiple draws and happen to match the winning numbers again.

However, the odds of winning the top prize are around 1 in 15.3 million, which means repeat wins are extremely rare. Matching five numbers and the Life Ball isn’t easy. For the second-tier prize (five main numbers without the Life Ball), the odds are approximately 1 in 1.7 million.

If someone plays regularly with different lines or tickets, it’s possible to win lower-tier prizes more than once — for example, getting £20 for matching three numbers. However, as lotteries are games of chance, any winnings can never be guaranteed.

Have There Been Any Confirmed Repeat Winners?

As of now, there are no publicly confirmed cases of someone winning the Set For Life top prize more than once. There may be instances where players might have won smaller prizes on multiple occasions, but multiple big wins are not something the National Lottery has reported.

It may be worth remembering that even if someone does win more than once, they may choose not to go public. Winners have the right to stay anonymous, and many do.

Since all outcomes are random, there’s no way to increase your chance of winning through a particular method or strategy. It all comes down to chance, and any win — big or small — cannot be predicted.

Games like Set For Life are based entirely on random outcomes, so it’s important to view them as a form of entertainment, rather than a way to make money. Set a spending limit, only play what you can afford to lose, and take breaks when needed.
